Nurse Practitioners provide a full range of primary health care to people of all ages and health conditions. The clinic does not charge for services provided. We use a team-based approach to address the physical, emotional, mental and social aspects of patients’ health. This means that our Nurse Practitioners can refer patients to specialists and other healthcare professionals, including those within our clinic. An on-site laboratory also allows our patients to have blood work and other lab services done at the clinic.
Health services offered include the following but are not limited to:
Lab services at the Georgina Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic are provided by the Registered Practical Nurse and Lab Technician. Registered Practical Nurses are nursing professionals who have education and training that meets the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario (link). In order to practice in Ontario as a “Registered Practical Nurse” or “RPN”, they must be registered with the College and continue to meet their standards for professional practice and conduct.
Lab services are provided by appointment only to registered patients. Services available include:
Social workers help people deal with the day-to-day problems that reduce the ability to cope and function at an optimal level in personal and family relationships, at work, at school and in the community. Social workers focus on the social and emotional as well as economic factors that contribute to overall health and social well-being.
The Social work profession is regulated under provincial legislation in Ontario. The initials “RSW” (Registered Social Worker) after a person’s name indicate that they belong to the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and they have the legal right to refer to themselves as a Social Worker.
Social Workers have university degrees in social work. BSW (Bachelor’s degree in social work), MSW (Master’s degree in social work) or PhD/DSW (Doctorate in social work).
The social worker plays a critical role in the provision of services at Georgina Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic.
Our Social Worker provides the following services:
Nurse Practitioners make referrals to the clinic Social Worker if the patient agrees and:
Registered Dietitians (RDs) are specially trained food and nutrition experts. They take scientific evidence about food and turn it into practical nutrition information that is easy to understand. Dietitians often work with other health professionals to prevent and/or treat diseases and to promote health.
All Registered Dietitians must be registered members of the College of Dietitians of Ontario to practice using the title “Registered Dietitian” in Ontario. This means that our patients receive safe and ethical care from qualified Registered Dietitians.

No. A Registered Dietitian is a protected title and a regulated health professional in Ontario. This means that a governing body (such as the College of Dietitians of Ontario) ensures that all practicing dietitians are qualified and licensed to practice. To be sure that you are seeing a Registered Dietitian, look for the initials RD after the health professional’s name.
A nutritionist in Ontario is not a protected title or a registered health professional. This means that there is no guarantee on the level of education or training that someone practicing as a nutritionist may have.
It is important to note that protected titles can vary across provinces and countries. For more information, click here.
A Registered Dietitian is available to answer your questions about a number of health issues. Some examples are:
