Day of Truth & Reconciliation -Clinic Open
September 30, 2021
This day provides an opportunity for the GNPLC to recognize and remember the legacy of residential schools, which more than 150,000 First Nations, Metis and Inuit children were forced to attend between the 1870s and 1997. The date marks Orange Shirt Day, an unofficial day that has been observed since 2013 in memory of a piece of clothing then-six-year-old Phyllis Webstad had taken from her on her first day at a residential school in 1973. The GNPLC staff will be proudly wearing our orange shirts with “EVERY CHILD MATTERS” and also partaking in additional Indigenous training in the afternoon.
